All Day Trip $800.00USD

The all day trip is an 8 hour trip.  We usually fish about 12 to 35 miles from Progreso on an all day trip.  I recommend bottom fishing as I do on the half day trip.  The wreck Lorenna is about 12 miles out and gives one a chance to catch the big jack crevalles that are there. The all day trip gives you enough time to get to the best trolling places near Progreso which are also good bottom fishing places.  On an all day trip, we will be fishing in 60 to 85 feet of water as the water here is so shallow.  I have great places in 125 to 200 feet of water around Alacranes Reef but that is a 2 or 3 day trip because those places are 65 to 90 miles from Progreso.

There is a beautiful reef 34 miles west of Progreso called Madagascar.  It is about 1 mile long and about 20 to 60 yards wide. It comes up from 70 feet of water to about 15 feet deep on top.  You can easily see the bottom there most days.  Some days we have caught 1 to 12 black groupers ranging from 5 to 25 pounds trolling Rapala lures down the reef.  There are usually Spanish mackerel to be caught trolling along this reef.  The yellowtail snapper generally bite pretty well there.  I have fished this reef 200 to 300 days and I highly recommend it.  It is also a great place to snorkel or scuba dive.  There is nothing like it off the coast of Yucatan.

There is a reef called Bobos about 20 miles west of Progreso that can be quite good but it breaks up from 65 feet to about 50 feet of water on the high side.  It is about 6 miles past the Lorenna and we could fish both of these places on an all day trip.

There is another reef called Culebra or serpent reef 43 miles west of Progreso which shallows up to about 28 feet of water on it’s shallowest part.  The place is best for trolling out of Progreso.  I caught a 58 and 61 pound king mackerel there one day in September many years ago.  One summer I caught about 30 king mackerel between 30 and 50 pounds trolling about an hour at the end of each trip.  I have also caught yellowfin tuna and cobias there in addition to good bottom fishing.  The mackerel are more plentiful in the winter but I have never fished Culebra in the winter as the seas are rougher and nobody wants to go that far.

As you can see there are many places to choose from on an all day trip.  I have been collecting fishing spots here for years and we have hundreds of places all around here.

On the bottom fishing, the fishing is very similar to the half day trip. The difference is the fish run a little larger and you have more time to fish so we can run further out to fish different places. The bottom fish are red groupers, yellowtail snappers, black groupers, amberjacks, mojarra blancas, blue runners, cobias, barracudas, African pompanos, scamp, gag groupers, etc.

We look forward to taking you on fishing trip that you will enjoy and remember.
