Cruise Ship Special  $450.00USD

This fishing trip is available to the people who come to Progreso aboard a cruise ship with Carnival Cruise line, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line or any of the other cruise lines coming here.  The trip includes pickup at the Taxi Drivers local, one block from the beach,  which is where the free bus will drop you off if you come to Progreso. They are building a new dropoff point at the bus station in the center of town, which is not ready yet. The first bus usually arrives there at 8:00 to 8:30AM.  We will take you to our boat which will be ready and waiting for you.

If you want to catch a taxi from the cruise ship terminal directly to Marina Yucalpeten Villa #6 where the boat is docked, you can do so for about a $12 to $15 taxi fare for up to 4 people in a taxi and we can take you back after the trip. This will add 20 to 45 minutes to your time on the water with us.

We provide all fishing tackle, bait, ice, etc.  We also provide your choice of breakfast sandwiches, fruit plates, natural fruit drinks of orange, jamaica, horchata, sevada, pitaya, mango, cantaloupe or watermelon juice.  Bottled water, soft drinks and beer are also available.  You can make your drink requests by e-mail when you make your reservations .  We will provide up to a case and a half of assorted drinks.

On the fishing, we have shallow water off of Progreso so we will be fishing 30 to 55 feet of water for yellowtail snappers, red groupers, mojarra blancas and other assorted bottom fish.  Trolling we have Jack Crevalle, Big Eyed Jacks, Blue Runners, Amberjacks, Spanish Mackeral, King Mackeral, Barracudas, Bonitos, and Cobias.
We have been fishing this winter 2011/2012 near the channel to the Cruise Ship Terminal. We have been catching 50 to 90 fish a trip in the half to two pound range with occasional fish to 10 to 12 pounds. These fish include lane snappers(which look almost exactly like red snappers), yellowtail snappers, red groupers, triggerfish and grunts.

We were fishing a shipwreck called “Lorena” which was sunk as a fishing reef. The 300 foot long wreck has had a large school of jack crevalle on it for the last 3 years. We were very successful at catching these jacks which had grown to about 10 to 16 pounds each. We were catching between 7 and 30 of them a trip. They are the largest fish that we can consistently catch here on a 4 to 5 hour trip here in Progreso. They left in October and have not moved back in yet but hopefully they will move back in soon.

We can also take you swimming near the beach if you so desire.  Snorkeling is also available but the water is murky from November till April due to the cold fronts stirring up the silt. Visibility is very good from May till October.

At the end of the trip, we will take you back to the dock and then to catch the bus back to your ship at the time that you specify.

The cruise ships don’t allow you to take the fish back aboard.   We have a nice beachfront restaurant that can cook your catch for a reasonable price if you like but that will cut into some of your fishing time.  Most guests prefer to stay out fishing as long as they can but those who came in to eat some of their catch have raved about how good their fresh fish dinner was.

We have a 2 man Mexican crew as required by law here as well as all permits, insurance and safety equipment on board.  Our desire is to give our guests the most enjoyable trip we can every time that we leave the dock. I will go as well if I can and I usually do.
